Yes, Happy New Year.
So here are my predictions for 2oo9 as it relates to Information Security.
I see and increase in Identity Theft even though Red Flag Regulations are in place or should be in place. As consumers we need to learn to protect our personal information (PII). Avoid sweepstakes, taking surveys, and signing up for credit cards just to get a free t-shirt or gym bag.
I also predict a increase in bot net type activity and the perfection and distribution of the Artificial Intelligent Self Defending Bot Net (AISDBN).
So not to be so "doom and gloom", I also predict that INFO SEC budgets and man power to increase. Managers are starting to realize that all the risk assessment that are preformed by Info Sec staff members are done in order to protect the business processes. Once a cost is associated with a process they learn the true value of mitigating risks form this critical business process.
